LATE MR. JOHN HENDERSON

FUNERAL AT DEVONPORT Last respects were paid to the late Mr. John Henderson at Devonport yesterday by a very numerous body of citizens, including representatives of the Devonport Borough Council, of which deceased had been Mayor in 1916, the Auckland Harbour Board, on which the North Shore has been represented for some years by Mr. Henderder, the Hospital Board, Auckland and Waitemata Power Boards, the Devonport Bowling Club, the Devonport Orphans’ Club, and the Master Grocers’ Association. A short service at the house was followed by a public service at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, with which deceased had been prominently identified. The Rev. Mawson Marsh, assisted by Captain Dick (Salvation Army), took the service, and the Mayor of Devonport, Mr. E. Aldridge, paid a tribute to the private and public life of the late gentleman. The graveside service was shared by the Rev. Marsh and colonel Toomer (Salvation Army).
