CURTAIN RUNG DOWN ON THAMES JUBILEE
A GREAT SUCCESS SPLENDID SPIRIT PREVAILS (Special to THE SUN. ) THAMES. To-day. The curtain was rung down on the Thames Jubilee celebrations with a concert on Tuesday evening. The Minister of Mines, the Hon. G. J. Anderson. was among those present, and the entertainment was most successful. Two presentations were made during the evening. The first was made by Mrs. Oldham, president of the Thames Old Girls’ Association, Auckland, who handed the Plunket Society branch a cheque for £3OO, being the amount collected by the association. The second presentation was that of a grandfather’s clock for the Old People’s Home at Tararu. The procession was warmly appreciated, and there were many capital displays. The judging was in the hands of Mr. George Mayor of Auckland, and Mr. H. Lowe, chairman of the Thames County Council. Mr. W. H. Lucas, one of the oldest pioneers on the field, secured first prize for his decorated car. The organisation of the procession was the work of Mr. J. W. Danby, while Mr. and Mrs. Elvatson gave special attention to the pioneers. Members of the National Reserve and Plunket Society also gave valuable assistance. Marked enthusiasm prevailed throughout the proceedings, and the celebrations were declared on all sides to be a great success
