FINE batting by NEW ZEALAND

DEMPSTER 132 AND STILL GOING STRONG—BLUNT’S BRISK 89 GAME WITH GLAMORGAN Bk Cable, — Press Association.—Copyright LONDON, Saturday. The New Zealand cricketers to-day commenced a match against Glamorgan at Cardiff. Oliver replaced Cunningham in the visitors’ side. Rain prevented play until 2.30 p.m. Then, the New Zealanders having won the toss, Dacre opened the first innings with Dempster. The former was dismissed before he had scored. Blunt joined Dempster and these two quickly retrieved the bad start. They completely mastered the attack, cutting and driving magnificently. The first 100 appeared on the board after SO minutes’ play. To such an extent was the bowling flogged that the batsmen took only 20 minutes to carry the total from 100 to 150. The second wicket partnership realised 174 in two hours. Eventually Blunt was caught off E. Davis. Mills and Page did not stay long. Lowry and Dempster were partnered when stumps were drawn, the latter having compiled 132.
