WITH THE HOUNDS
PAKURANGA HUNT CLUB MEET AT PUHI-NUI The meet of the Pakuranga Hunt Club, originally called for Kelly’s Corner on Saturday, had to be transferred to Mr. W. McLaughlin's farm, Puhi-Nui, owing to the wet state of the fields at the former place. There was a good attendance of members, over 40 followers of the hounds being on the spot. During the meet there 'were two or three good runs, one kill being registered. The jumping provided consisted wholly of stone walls, and there were many hiding-places for the quarry among the rocks. Afternoon tea was kindly provided by Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McLaughlin, and, as is always the case when the meet is at Puhi-Nui, one and all found a welcome awaiting them from the host and hostess. Mr. Bullock-Webster, huntsman of the club, thanked the hosts for their thoughtfulness, and commented on the hospitality tendered to the members from this quarter, stating that they all looked on Puhi-Nui as the real headquarters of the Pakuranga Hunt Club. Mr. McLaughlin’s father was a former master of the hunt.
