OVER FIFTY YEARS
WORTHY NATIONAL TRADE MARK MODERN “ORION” ELECTRICS To be able to prove that a line of manufacture has been produced for over 55 years in our country in response to a consistently growing demand, is a striking example of the further possibilties of industrial progress. Many visitors who have inspected the various stands at the Winter Exhibition will have paid tribute to the exhibit of “Orion” electric ranges, which, following in the wake of the thousands of fuel-burning ranges of the same name that grace the kitchens of homes throughout New Zealand, have earned early widespread recognition for positive durability, neatness of modern construction and adapt-
ability for safe and easy use in all culinary. FINE DOMESTIC RANGE The well-known makers, Messrs. H. E. Sliacklock, Ltd., of Dunedin, who have long been established at Auckland, spared no technical effort to maintain a premier standard in the manufacture of ranges suited to the varying needs of households over many decades. The models in shed 9 at the show emphasise the close attention given to making a strong cast-iron frame, double-casing for retention of oven heat, and utility, which combines all the features of advanced range construction, the electrical equipment being the most efficient obtainable. As a complementary unit the firm offers the “Meteor” destructor, which is most economical on fuel. The electric water heating is as satisfactory as electric cooking and an element fitted direct to the circulator (immersion type) or installed alongside the circulator, gives unfailing results. Either may be applied to existing hot water systems. “Orion” electrics, indeed, are well abreast of the times and they have all and more of those desirable virtues of silence, cleanliness, laboursaving and economy, in addition to good results in cooking, baking or broiling—so much claimed for other electric ranges. These “Orion” ranges, with rotary Indicating switches, nickel finish enamelled skirtings and other attractive and sound finish, are made in 11 models, including, if necessary, high enamelled back and shelf. A special pastrycook’s model with hot plates is also constructed. VARIED ACTIVITIES Though meeting the need for the more modern range for “White Coal” consumption this pioneer firm is still selling an enormous number of the oldtype fuel ranges (also displayed), grates and its special circulating systems. “Orion” Island ranges for large institutions, cabinet ovens, “Weka,” “Pagoda” and “Weraroa” laundry and heating stoves, tailors’ stoves, “Miro” stoves, household grates, “Orion” brooders and incubators and circulating systems, are included in the comprehensive manufacturing activities of H. E. Shacklock Ltd. “Orion” electrics have be popularly demonstrated at the show and these cookery exhibitions will be continued daily at the firm’s showrooms in Fort Street at 2.20 p.m. to 4 p.m. daily (Saturday excepted) until August 12. Prospective users are cordially invited , to attend.
