CHARACTER CONCRETE
MADE IN TAKAPUNA A CAPTIVATING EXHIBIT By the judicious display of a range of well-made concrete materials within a home gate and fence surround, Messrs. A. and A. Gunn, the well-known specialists of North Shore, have produced a favourable impression of the utility and beauty of “Gunncrete,” which is the trade term applied to the firm’s special manufactures. It may be said that the exhibit has an outdoor or garden effect, the various treatments of concrete in texture, colour scheme and design providing a capital idea of ornamental and permanent settings. The surface materials used in “Gunncrete” are carefully selected and built into the blocks with a very rich cement mix which gives great strength. Plain and fancyfaced blocks used in conjunction with “Gunncrete” add to the adaptability of these concrete manufactures which are becoming so popular. Blocks used with an artistic frieze enhance the appearance of a frontage wall, and the firm effectively demonstrates contrasts obtained with the c etto mould frieze a weathered frieze by the use or coping and “Gunncrete” in rubble or pebble designs. Messrs A. and A. Gunn make lines for piers, porches, entrances, ferneries, flower and fern fonts, curbs and paths. The strictly routine aspect of the business is the manufacture of Victor Pumice Boiler Casing, strongly reinforced and thoroughly cured. This boiler is easily managed and economical on fuel. By means of a patent plug cleaning is facilitated, and another feature is a pivoted metal disc covering cleaning eye. which serves as a damper. “Victor” is a valuable domestic device and an acquisition to the modern home.
