PERSONAL. —Mr. H. J. Cockford, chief engineer of the Ulimaroa, is at present on extended leave of absence. Mr. W. Reynolds has signed on as purser of the Union Company’s steamer Kanna.

MAKURA FROM ’FRISCO. —The Union Company advises that the R.M.S. Makura from San Francisco via Papeete and Rarotonga is expected to arrive at Wellington next Tuesday morning and is announced to sail the same evening in continuation of her voyage to Sydney. MELBOURNE SERVICE. —The local office of the Union Company have been advised that the passenger steamer Manuka leaves Melbourne on August 5 for "Wellington, where she is dLie on August 9. The Manuka is to leave Wellington again on August 10, Lyttelton on August 11, Dunedin on August 13 and Bluff on August 15 for Melbourne. COAL FROM NEWCASTLE. —The Union Company advises that the Kai■t toke leaves Auckland at 5 p.m. on Monday for Newcastle to load for New Zealand. The Kaiwarra. sailed from Newcastle yesterday for Auckland and is due here about Thursday next. The Whangape is expected to leave Newcastle to-morrow for Auckland and should arrive here about August 6. BARON MiNTO AT SYDNEY.— The Nil pier and Miller steamer Baron Minto is reported to have arrived at Sydney yesterday from Auckland. After discharging 1,000 tons of oats and a quantity of nitrate of soda there, she sails for Melbourne, Adelaide and Fremantle to complete discharge. TEKOA FOR GISBO RN E.— To complete her loading under the auspices of the New Zealand Shipping Company, the steamer Tekoa was to leave Opua early this morning for Gisborne, thence Napier, Wanganui and Wellington. She is to saii finally from the latter port on August 13 for London and West of England ports, via Panama. SYDNEY STEAMERS. —The Huddart, Parker steamer Ulimaroa sails from Wellingtons, ‘-it noon to-day for Sydney, where she is due next Tuesday. The Union Company’s Maheno and the Marama both clear Sydney to-day for New Zealand, the former ship sailing for Auckland and the latter for Wellington. Both vessels are due at their New Zealand ports next Tuesday morning. THE CANADIAN SEIGNEUR. —The Canadian Seigneur left Lyttelton yesterday afternoon for Timaru, after being delayed there by rain. She should arrive at Dunedin to-morrow and sail again early next week for Wellington. The Canadian Seigneur is due to arrive at Auckland on August 6. and after completing loading here, will be dispatched on August S for New York, Boston and Montreal. MATATUA DELAYED. —Owing to the wet weather the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Matatua has been delayed at Oamaru. She now leaves today for New Plymouth, thence Wellington, Napier, Gisborne and ALickland to complete loading. She is due here on August 13 and the agents, L. D. Nathan and Company, hope to dispatch her from this port finally on August 16 for Antwerp and London, via the Cape Horn route. /

lONIC SAILS SUNDAY. —The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advises that the White Star liner lonic will leave Wellington at daybreak on Sunday for Southampton and London, via Panama.

RIMUTAKA STILL DELAYED.— The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Rimutaka was further delayed in discharging at Dunedin yesterday, owing to rain. She is now timed to leave there on Saturday for Lyttelton and New Plymouth, to put out the remainder of her cargo from London.

ROTORUA REACHES HOME,—A cable message from Southampton states the Rotorua arrived from Wellington on Wednesday with passengers, mails and cargo. The vessel left New Zealand on June 21, after loading on the coast.

PORT DUNEDIN SAILING.— At 4 o’clock this afternoon the C. and D. Line’s motor-ship Port Dunedin is expected to leave Auckland for Adelaide, thence Fremantle to complete her loading for Genoa, Marseilles and London. Heather, Roberton and Company are the local agents forr the vessel. WESTMORELAND AT COLON.— According to a cable fnessage from Colon the steamer Westmoreland arrived on Wednesday, en route from Liverpool to Auckland. She is due at Auckland on August 15, and will also discharge at Wellington, Lyttelton and Port Chalmers.

I K ALA ARRIVES TO-MORROW.— Due at Auckland to-morrow morning from Montreal, the steamer Ikala will berth at the Prince’s Wharf to unload the local portion of her cargo. She later proceeds to Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Melbourne and Sydney to complete. The N.Z. Shipping Company is the local agent.

HUNTINGDON SAILS.— A departure from Auckland this morning was the Federal steamer Huntingdon, bound for London, Avonmouth, Glasgow, Manchester and Liverpool, via Panama. The vessel loaded here under the auspices of the New Zealand Shipping Company. SUSSEX AT CALCUTTA.-— Cabled advice has. been received by the Union Company that the Sussex arrived at Calcutta last Saturday. The vessel is to leave there next week for Singapore and Samarang, to complete loading for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin and Bluff. VANCOUVER MAIL STEAMERS. —Cable advice received by the Union Company states that the R.M.S. Niagara sailed from Sydney at 4 p.m. yesterday for Auckland. She is due here next Monday morning and is announced to leave at 11 a.m. the following day in continuation of her voyage to Suva, Honolulu, Victoria and Vancouver. Advice has also been received that the R.M.M.S. Aorangi left Van-, couver at noon on Wednesday via ports for Sydney. She is expected to arrive at Auckland on Sunday, August 14, and is scheduled to sail from here the following day for Sydney. CARGO FROM NEW YORK.— The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company has been advised of the following projected sailings from New York of the A. and A. Line of steamers: The Treworlas was to leave on July 23 for Levuka, Suva, Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The City of Batavia leaves on August 10 for Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff, Hobart and Burnie. The Atholl leaves on August 27®ror Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Wanganui. The Tremeadow leaves on September 14, and the Willaston on September 28 for New Zealand ports not yet announced. MANUKA FOR MELBOURNE.— The Manuka, which left Wellington on Wednesday for Melbourne direct, took the following passengers; Saloon: Misses Summers, Rowe, Hull Whitney, King-, Curtis, Hay, Wills, Wise, Gold. The Rarawa, arriving at Onehunga at 7.30 a.m. to-morrow from New Plymouth, is scheduled to sail again on the return trip at 3 p.m. on Monday. The. Arapawa, sailing at 2 p.m. to-day for Hokianga, arrives back again about the middle of next week to load for Wanganui. The Ngatiaiwa, expected at Onehunga at 6 o’clock to-morrow morning, sails again at 4 p.m. on Monday for Raglan, Kawhia and Port Waikato. The Kaitoa is to leave Nelson to-mor-row for Onehunga, and should arrive on Monday morning. She wfill be dispatched later the same day for Pictori only. The Tftoki loads a t Onehunga next week for Nelson and West Coast ports. OHINEMURI SAILING. The Whangape Timber Company’s steamer Ohinemuri, which arrived at Onehunga on Tuesday afternoon with a cargo of timber from the company’s mills at Whangape, has now conipleted discharge, and is expected to sail this afternoon on the return trip to load again for the same port.
