YOUNG MAN FACES SERIOUS CHARGES
SIX OFFENCES ALLEGED On six charges of indecently as—,, ins three boys, Francis Allen aged 24. for whom Mr. Hogben In peared. stood his trial before J u 2' Herdman at the Supreme Court tF morning. The Crown Prosecutor, Mr. X r> Meredith, outlining the case, read a lota statement by accused denying the a’ l legations, but admitting that boys liv ing in his neighbourhood had dubbe, him with a certain suggestive nick name. The first and principal witness w a , a little boy of seven, who detailed tb. alleged serious offence contained in charge. Two other boys, aged 14 and 13 » spectively, were other witnesses for ;h. prosecution. Detective Allen said that in com pany with Detective White on June r he searched accused's bedroom and dis* covered several indecent picture cuttings from certain papers. Cross-examined by Mr. Meredith, ac. cused said he formed the habit of'co’! lecting the cuttings, while at the Tolunui Alental Hospital where, he said, the practice was commons amon? the patients.
