1926-27 SEASON CURTAIN DRAWN PRINCIPAL WINNERS INTERESTING STATISTICS With the drawing of the curtain over the 1926-27 trotting season, the statistics relative to the various operations of owners and horses are available and the position in respect to the leading contingent in each section furnishes interesting reading. Among the successful owners, Mr. J. R. McKenzie, the Wellington enthusiast heads the list for the second time in succession, with a total of £5,545. Talaro, who ran third in the last New Zealand Cup, and subsequently won the Auckland Cup, was the chief stakeearner for the season, Mr. C. E. Lindsay’s gelding collecting the tidy sum of £3,455. The defunct Logan Pointer again secured the sires’ riband, the earnings of his representatives reaching approximately £24,000. For the benefit of the numerous readers of THE SUN statistics, showing the leading half-dozen owners, horses and sires during the last four seasons are appended, and much interest will be found in comparing the positions, with their changing fortunes of the popular pastime. 1923- SEASON Winning Owners—- £ R.
