FOR DERBY WINNER CALL BOY CHANGES HANDS By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright LONDON, Tuesday. - The racehorse Call Boy. which recently won the Derby, has been purchased by Sir Harry Mallaby-Deeley for £60,000. This was done in accordance with the request of his brother, the late Mr. Frank Curzon, the owner of Call Boy, in order to prevent the horse from leaving England. The price is a record for a thoroughbred.—A. and N.Z. The late Mr. Frank Curzon was a son of Mr. W. C. Deeley, of Curzon Park, Chester, hence his adopted name, and Sir Harry Mallaby-Deeley was another son. Mr. Curzon was a well-known actor and manager. He won the Derby last June with Call Boy, which ran the race in record time, and died a few days later. His brother, Sir Henry, represented East Willesden as a- Conservative from 1910 to 1923. Eliminating Classics At the annual meeting of the Feilding Jockey Club, Mr. T. O’Neill brought up the question of eliminating the flvefurlong weight-for-age event (Feilding Stakes) and substituting therefore a more attractive event. He assumed that the object of the club was the encouragement of breeding of first-class horses and in his opinion, the existing five-furlong scramble did not assist. Feilding was the only club he knew of which provided such a race which was not popular. He moved that the committee go into the question of distance and conditions of the weight-for-age race with the object of providing an event of a mile or mile and a-quarter. He was confident that a change would make for better racing and would attract a field of first-class horses. Mr. H. D’Oyly seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously.
