LONELIEST MONARCH
BORIS OF BULGARIA NEW SEARCH FOR BRIDE By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright SOFIA, Monday. TYING BORIS of Bulgaria, described as Europe's loneliest monarch, and one of the most persistent wooers in history, has departed mysteriously on an incognito tour of Europe, and this has revived interest in his matrimonial plans. King Boris is expected to visit London during his tour. Opinion in Bulgaria is divided on the question of the most desirable Queen. One section wants a Queen of Royal pedigree, while the other thinks the King should aid his country by selecting an American heiress of good family.—A. and N.Z.
Ring Boris is 33 years of age. Three years ago he was reported to be engaged to marry the pretty 14-year-old Princess Ileana, the youngest daughter of King Ferdinand of Rumania. Years before that he had sought the hand of Princess Elizabeth of Rumania, then a beautiful girl of 18, and one of the most soughtafter princesses of her day. Boris was disappointed: the princess married King George 11. of Greece, who is now without a throne. The lonely King transferred his attentions to Princess Marie of Rumania, but she married King Alexander of Yugoslavia. Disappointment came again when he sought the hand of Princess Yolanda of Italy, who married a count and not a king.
