LECKIE BEATS CARROLL Press Association. DUNEDIN, Tuesday. A professional boxing contest between Johnny Leckie, Dunedin (Bst 1311 b), and Mark Carroll, Wanganui (9st 411 b), took place to-night. The contest was scheduled for 15 rounds for a purse of £IOO, but in the 11th round, in which Carroll was down three times, the referee stopped the contest and awarded the decision to Leckie. The latter had the better of the contest in practically every round, and outboxed his opponent. OTAGO AMATEUR TEAM The following team has been selected to represent Otago at the New Zealand boxing championship tournament at Invercargill, on August 17, 18, and 19: —Flyweight, E. M. Rix; bantamweight, W. Parker; featherweight, W. G. Leckie; lightweight, R. Fulcher: welterweight, S. Hughes: middleweight, R. Anderson; heavyweight, J. G. Leckie.
