WHAKAREWAREWA FIRE

KIOSK BURNED ROTORUA, To-day. The Whakarewarewa Tea Kiosk, an extensive building, was burned to the ground at 5 o’clock this morning. A heavy wind was blowing and torrential rain fell. When the brigade arrived it was found hopeless to save the building, and efforts were concentrated on the surrounding dwellings, which were effectively isolated. The kiosk was owned by Nathan and Co., Auckland, and leased by Mrs. Donaldson, and used as a refreshment room and dancing hall. The carved house adjoining was undamaged. Insurances are unknown.
