GLEN EDEN FIRES
HELP FROM SCOUTS The question of what provision, if any, Glen Eden has for dealing with accidents and fires was discussed at a meeting of the district town board last evening. It emanated from an offer by the chairman of the Glen Eden Scouts’ Committee to place the scouts at the disposal of the board in such cases. The clerk, Mr. Croucher, made it clear that the district, so far as the j board was concerned, was devoid of | facilities. Mr. Edwards then offered the board the use of the scouts’ first-aid outfit, and also the budding soldiers’ experience in first-aid work, in which they are nearly proficient, in case of accident; also their assistance in combating any fires that may occur in the district. The chairman of the board, Mr. W. H. Shepherd, expressed the view that the boys were being tutored on the right lines. He thanked Mr. Edwards for both offers and suggested that the board might take advantage of them. The boys, he said, might be valuable at fires in assisting to remove furniture.
