“FASHIONS FOR WOMEN” Introducing an array of gowns and styles surpassing anything ever before witnessed upon a motion picture screen, Esther Ralston's first starring vehicle, “Fashions For Women,” which is now being shown at the Rialto Theatre, unfolds a breezy story that never lagged. There were breakfast, luncheon, afternoon, tea and evening gowns, street and house dresses, sports outfits, negligees—in fact, every type and style of women’s wearing apparel ever created. “Fashions For Women” was directed for the screen by Dorothy Arzner. one of the two women film directors in California. Whoever conceived the idea of having a member of the feminine sex handle the megaphone deserves tremendous credit. It is doubtful if any man could have filmed the picture with the deftness and tact employed by Miss Arzner. The locale of “Fashions For Women” i-. Paris, France, style centre of the world. Outstanding in the production is a gigantic fashion show, during which Miss Ralston and 15 beautiful mannequins display scores of interesting wearing apparel. Supporting Miss Ralston in the cast of the photoplay which was scenarised by Percy Heath, are Einar Hanson, noted Swedish leading man, and Raymond Hatton, famous comedian. The story was adapted by Jules Furthman and Herman Mankiewicz.
