WAIKATO TROTTING CLUB’S TRIBUTE
THE LATE MR. C. F. MARK At a meeting of the Waikato Trotting Club held on Thursday evening the president, Mr. R. T. Reid, before proceeding with the general business made feeling reference to the passing of Mr. C. F. Mark, late secretary of the Auckland Trotting Club. He eulogised the lengthy and able service rendered to the light harness cause by the late Mr. Mark, and expressed the opinion that the sport had sustained a severe loss through his death. Other members endorsed the sentiments voiced by the president and a motion of condolence was recorded to the bereaved family, all present standing in silence.
DAMAGE TO PROPERTY POLICE TO KEEP WATCH Reports of the Waikato Trotting Club to hand showed that the work of improvement to the track and grounds was well in hand, and it was decided to put down a training track on the Claudelands course. WANTON DESTRUCTION The club’s architect, Mr. J. E. Chitty, complained of the large amount of pilfering going on at the stands. Material had disappeared in big quantities and considerable damage had been done to the property by trespassers, hardly a sheet of glass on the stands being intact. A recommendation was made that the police be asked to keep a watch on the property at night.
