The Main Highways Board has recommended the Minister of Public Works to declare the road from Panmure to Howick, in the Pakuranga riding of the Manukau County Council, a main highway, consideration of the request for the road through the Papatoetoe riding to be declared a- main highway being deferred. The former decision is the result of representations by Mr. J S. Dickson. Pakuranga riding representative on the council. The road carries with it a subsidy of 30s in the pound. The sum of £6OO annually has been spent on it in recent years. It is now possible that the concrete road will be extended from Panmure to Howick.
