COUNTY CRICKET
MATCHES IN ENGLAND By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright LONDON, Tuesday. The following are the results of the cricket matches which ended to-day: Playing against the Navy, the Army in the first innings made 193 (Captain A. C. Wilkinson 73, Lieut. G. Bryan 50), and in the second 233 (Captain Wilkinson 44, Captain L. Williams 57, Lieut.-Commander Brooke four wickets for 38).
The Navy in the first innings made 429 (Tuck 60, Sellar 68, Lieut.-Com-mander Bartley 84, Halsey 98). The Navy won by an innings and 3 runs. Playing against Lancashire Surrey in the first innings made 264 (Hobbs 83, Peach 51; McDonald six wickets for 92), and in the second 357 for five wickets (Sandliam 156 not out, Hobbs 49, Holmes 62).
Lancashire in their first innings 442 for seven wickets and declared (E. Tyldesley 103, Makepeace 152, Eckersley 57 not out). Lancashire won on the first innings. McDonald has taken 100 wickets for the season.
Playing against Middlesex Yorkshire in the first innings made 490 for nine wickets and declared (Holmes 53, Oldroyd 88, Leyland 204 not out). Middlesex in the first innings made 302 (Hendren 127; Kilner five wickets for 80), and in the second 218 for two wickets (Haig 80, Lee 55, Hendren 62 not out). Yorkshire won on the first innings.
Playing against Kent, Somersetshire in the first innings made 205 (Freeman five wickets for 73), and in the second 79.
Kent in the first innings made 218 for eight wickets and declared (Ashdown 82, Ames 52), and in the second 67 for one wicket. Kent won by nine wickets.
Playing for Essex against Derbyshire Nicholls took eight wickets for 46. For Derbyshire Lee took five for 43. Essex won.
Playing for Hampshire against Northants, Mead made 100 not out and Tennyson 116 not out. Kennedy took five wickets for 52. For Northants Jupp took six wickets for 71. Mead has now made 100 centuries in firstclass cricket. Hampshire won. For Warwickshire against Worcestershire Partridge took five wickets for 60. For Worcestershire Root took six wickets for 62. Warwickshire won.
For Sussex against Gloucestershire Cook made 166. Tate took five wickets for 80. For Gloucestershire, Dipper made 122. Sussex won.
For Notts against Leicestershire Gunn made 51 not out. S. Staples took five wickets for 51, and Larwood five for 20; Barrett five for 20. Notts won.
