New City Outlet. —Members of the Auckland City Council inspected the proposed new outlet from the city this morning. The scheme is to give an exit via Stanley Street, through the Domain to the Domain Drive, skirting the grounds and joining Carlton Gore Road.

Fire in Factory.—Slight damage to the flooring of the office of Grey and Menzies in Eden Crescent was done by a fire, caused by a defective chimney, which broke out late last night. The building and contents are insured for £13,000 in the South British Insurance Company. The City Brigade turned out.

Lorry Capsizes.—A three-ton International lorry owned by Messrs Buckley and McGarvey, carriers, of Devonport, capsized in Hastings Parade yesterday. The lorry, fully loaded, was crossing the footpath from the depot when one of the supports leading to the street gave way, causing the vehicle to fall on its side. The windscreen was broken and the bodywork damaged. The driver escaped without injury.

Otago Students Eulogised.—The conduct of the Otago University students in their capping celebrations was warmly eulogised at the meeting of the Otago University Council, all members agreeing that no exception could be taken to the hilarious proceedings of the week. The chancellor, Mr. T. K. Sidey, M.P., said that as far as the Otago district was concerned there was no ground for complaint.
