BOROUGH OF TE AWAMUTU
The Te Awamutu Borough Council met on Monday evening* the Mayor Mr. L. G. Armstrong, presiding. Also present were: Crs. C. Bygrave. C. a Reilly, W. Swain, J. G. B. Gifford, J. Marshall and J. C. Montefiore. It was reported that the Works Committee had instructed the engineer to base his estimate of loan expenditure on any one street at 2* per cent, below the total amount of money allocated for that particular street. The Mayor said he had no strong objection to the 5 per cent, being set aside, provided the council arranged now for the disposal of that money in the direction of conserving works carried out by loan money. To set aside 5 per cent, without any definite object in view would not find his support After discussion, it was resolved that the 5 per cent, be placed to a scheduled works contingency fund, to be used as required for supplementing work done on roads already partly constructed out of loan moneys.
