LABOUR’S GOOD WISHES
TOUR OF MR. AMERY REFERENCE IN COMMONS By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 10.55 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. In the House of Commons, Mr. J. H. Thomas (Labour) wished Mr. L. S. Amery, Secretary for the Dominions, a good tour. He recalled his own experience on returning from a tour similar to that which Mr. Amery was about to undertake, when he reached home to find himself out of office. He confessed that he hoped Mr. Amery would not have the same fate. He complained that the House had had no opportunity to discuss the decisions of the Imperial Conference, of which he knew no more than the man on the street. He congratulated Mr. Amery on the most successful innovation of a colonial conference, though he thought it was the gravest mistake to go outside matters of administration and enter the sphere of politics. It would be a tragedy if political changes meant changes in governors. The House adopted the Colonial Office vote. —A. and N.Z.
