BLACK DAY FOR AIRMEN
FOUR FATAL^ACCIDENTS ENGLISHMEN TRAPPED IN BLAZING PLANE By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. YESTERDAY was a black day in aviation. From Britain, France, Australia and Spain come reports of fatal airplane accidents.
Reed. 10.56 a.m. LONDON, Monday. TWO persons were killed at Camber--1 ley when a Royal Air Force machine crashed and burst into flames while engaged in night operations with an infantry brigade from Aidershot.
The troops suddenly saw the airplane enveloped in smoke career across the ground and finally overturn, blazing fiercely. While it was in the air, the mechanic tried to save himself by jumping out. He was picked up dead. The pilot was burned to a cinder, and the plane was reduced to a heap of charred and twisted wreckage.— A. and N.Z.
