GIFTS TO UNIVERSITY

ACKNOWLEDGED BY COUNCIL A number of valuable gifts were received and acknowledged by the Auckland University College Council yesterday. These were;—For the geology department, from Mr. N. D. Cochrane, Mount Eden, valuable collection of slides of rocks, described in a report by him on the geology of Fiji. For the school of forestry, from Mr. W. B. Leyland, figured kauri panels. For the college building fund, from E, C. Browne and Company, Ltd., £ 5. In recognition of a valuable gift of rfegal works by Mr. Seth-Smith, the Law Students’ Society intimated that it would take over the liability for procuring future numbers of the “English and Empire Digest.’’ A copy of an original work, entitled “Mutarotation,” was received from the authors, Professor F. P. Worley and Mr. J. C. Andrews.
