PETROL PEPYS’S DIARY
Did awake this daye resolved to take my poor wench motor-gallop-ing in our brave whiffle-ehariot, it being newly decked with noble calsominc in pinke and lavender Zebra stripes. But 10. it did take me so long to cleanse the slnbbergullion sparke plugges that dusk did still finde me turning them back into their sockets. But did call the sorry wench, and she quite merrie to ride at eventide though we must hange bright ship lanternes on the fenders in lieu of our head-lyghtes, which hath burned out. Did meet with malicious traffick-gudgeon in uniform and he wroth, and tell us we cannot lyghte our waye with such ninywhoop gadgets, so I did oblige the boorish fellow by blowing them both out, and we on our way quite merrie when he did promise to come to our backe yard come Tuesday eventide to play at tossing horse shoon. Did chuckle with delight when impudent gaswagon did pass by bearing svgne: “Don't feel so smart, big boy, mine's paid for,” and resolved to paynte the same brave legende on our tonneau come the morrow. So home to bed quite content.
