BURGLARS ACTIVE
BREAK IN KHYBER PASS SUSPICIOUS NIGHT NOISES On Friday night the premses of Mr. R. McDonald, grocer, in the Khyber Pass Road, were entered by burglars, who stole £2O worth of tobacco ancl cigarettes. A window on the front door had been broken and this enabled the thieves to turn-the lock on the inside. Mrs. M. Pennicot, who owns a teashop and confectionery business next door, said that early this morning she heard a motor-car in Madeira. Place, just near the shop. Mrs. Pennicot said that the noises were suspicious and evidently the owners of the car had some difficulty in starting it. She was not surprised this morning when she heard of the burglary. This morning, when Mr. McDonald entered bis shop, he found that a box of eggs had been emptied on the floor. Evidently the box had been used by the intruders to carry away the cigarettes and tobacco. Mr. McDonald does not live on the premises.
