INTER-SCHOOL MATCH

MT. ALBERT BEATS HAMILTON From the start the game was fast and open; the High School Boys scoring quickly with a brilliant try from Pratt. The same player converted. A dribbling rush saw play swing to High School’s quarter, where Grammar was awarded a penalty kick, which Bush succeeded in converting. The quarter ended: High School 5, Grammar 3. Play continued to be very even, neither side having the advantage. Before the whistle went for half-time, Hodge made an opening for Grammar, with the result that Halls crossed the opponent’s line. Bush failed to convert, and the half-time score was: Grammar 8, High School 5. Morgan dummied his way through, to score well out. Pratt failed to convert. The scores now were 8 all. As a result of a pretty piece of combination, Grammar backs swept up the field, Campbell scoring well out from the posts. The kick failed. In the last quarter, High Scl#>ol did its utmost to even the scores, but the splendid play of Hodge and Bush made it impossible to break its defence. An excellent game ended: Grammar 11, High School 8. In a close and exciting match at Victoria Park on Saturday Auckland Grammar defeated Sacred Heart by five points to three. For the winners, Prankham scored and Cashmore converted, and Mallett, the Sacred Heart captain, kicked a goal from a mark. W. J. Meredith was the referee.
