LOANS BOARD MEETS

OVER 40 APPROVED UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF Press Association. WELLINGTON, To-day. At a meeting of the Local Government Loans Board yesterday there were present: Messrs. R. E. Hayes, Secretary to the Treasury (chairman); F. W. Furkert, Engineer-in-Chief of the Public Works Department; G. C. Godfrey, secretary of the Marine Department; W. J. Holdsworth, chairman of the Auckland Electric Power Board; G. A. Lewin, Town Clerk of Dunedin; and S. A. R. Mair, Engineer of Rangitikei County. Twenty-six applications for sanction of loans totalling £1,345,872 were dealt with. Three loans totalling £12,000 for the relief of unemployment were sanctioned, and also 15 new loans for £988,115, and four renewal loans for £155,557, in all cases subject to conditions as regards repayment. The remaining applications were either declined or referred back to the various local authorities for amendment.
