DEATH AT WAIPU

MRS. S. E. GRIFFITHS The death occurred at the Whangarei Hospital on Thursday of Mrs. S. E. Griffiths, relict of the late Rev. Samuel Griffiths, Congregational minister, formerly of Waipu, Nelson, Devonport and Te Kuiti. Deceased, who came to New Zealand with her husband and family in 1905, was a lifelong worker in the temperance cause, and in the late seventies served in the mission field in Central Africa, commonly called “The White Man’s Grave.” The late Mrs. Griffiths sustained a stroke some years ago and her demise was hastened as the result of a fall at her home in Waipu the week previous to her death. She is survived by two sons—Mr. W. B. Griffiths, of the "Yorkshire Post.” Leeds. England, and Mr. G. G. Griffiths.,, chairman of the Putaruru Town Board—and two daughters. Misses E. M. and G. I. K. Griffiths. The interment took place at Waipu on Thursday.
