MAN DROPS DEAD

AT POKAKA STATION John Galbraith Lawson, aged 49, a single man living at Pokaka, died suddenly at Pokaka railway station in the early hours of Thursday morning. An inquest was held last evening by Mr. W. H. Sandford, district coroner, and evidence showed that the deceased was a. hauler-driver, working at a mill. He had received word that his father was seriously ill at # Marton, and he intended to catch the 2 a.m. train from Pokaka for Ohakune. When he arrived at the station he appeared to be very cold, but in goccl health The night was bitterly cold, and it was snowing hard. The tablet porter invited him into his office to warm himself before the fire while waiting for the train. The deceased accepted the offer, and after being in the office for about five minutes chatting to the porter he suddenly fell to the floor and expired. The inquest was adjourned pending the doctor’s evidence.
