SAVIDAN GOING

AUSTRALASIAN CHAMPS. SAILS ON TUESDAY J. AY. Savidan, Dominion crosscountry champion, will represent New Zealand at the Australasian meeting to he held at Adelaide on August 6. Besides holding the steeplechase title, Savidan is also New Zealand champion in the mile and three mile flat events. He is in great form at present, and put up a record for the 10,000 metres at Christchurch recently. The New Zealand Council has refused to assist the scheme of the Auckland Centre financially, and this will mean that the local club will have to bear the brunt of the expenses. A subscription to pay Savidan’s passage will be opened at the Domain sports to-morrow. Savidan will appear at the Auckland Amateur Athletic Club's sports at the Domain to-morrow, and sail by the R.M.S. Maunganui next Tuesday for Sydney.
