NEW RULES ACCEPTED OLD RULES AMENDED Press Association. WELLINGTON, Thursday. A number of proposed new rules and amendments to old rules were considered by the New Zealand Racing Conference yesterday. Identification A proposal by the president that a certificate of identification, stating tns age, colour, sex, and any distinctive marks by which a horse may be identified, signed by a veterinary surgeon in New Zealand approved for this purpose by the president, shall be lodged with the president in the case of each horse foaled out of New Zealand, was carried. It was decided also that the rule should apply to New Zealand horses returning after having been taken out of the country. Disqualification The following additions to rules were carried: —“If a horse be disqualified a race, he shall be regarded as unplaced and the other horses shall be placed accordingly,” and “if, in the opinion of the stewards, a horse has interfered through no fault of his rider with the chance of any horse placed by the judge, the stewards may, if they think fit, place such horse immediately after any horse whose chance has been interfered with.” Prize Money The following new rule regarding prize money was passed:—“lf the winner has walked over, or no horses have been placed second or in any lower place, the money or prize provided oy the conditions for the horse second or in any lower place shall be dealt with as follows: —(a) If part or of the stake or plate, it shall go to the winner; or, (b) if a separate donation from the race fund or any °* ne r source, it shall not be given at all; o (c) if entrance moneys for the race, i shall go to the race fund.” Appeals A proposed new rule: —“On the hearing of an appeal, any club or person interested in the decision appeale from shall be entitled to be represen ted by a barrister or solicitor of ih* Supreme Court of New Zealand,” v/a* defeated by 2 3 votes to 17.
