MELBOURNE CUP SURPRISE PUBLIC MYSTIFIED By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright MELBOURNE, Thursday. Advice that Limerick was scratched for the Melbourne Cup came as a bombshell in racing circles. The chances of the horse were particularly favoured, and the public is mystified as to the reason for the withdrawal. The reason is not stated in the trainer's letter to the Victorian Racing Club.—A. and N.Z.
