RECENT WEDDINGS
BOYLES—JONATHAN A very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Paul's Methodist Church, Hamilton, recently, when Miss Doris Evelyn Jonathan, of Hamilton, was married to Mr. Russell Alexander Boyles, also of Hamilton. The Rev. Percy Paris officiated. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, looked charming in ivory crepe de chine trimmed with radium lace, and touches of orange blossom. She also wore the
orthodox veil and orange blossoms, and carried a beautiful shower bouquet. She was attended by her sister, Miss Grace Jonathan, who wore apricot crepe de chine and silver headdress. She carried a beautiful shower bouquet. The two little flower-girls were Miss Greta Jonathan and Miss Oreti Morgan, cousin of the bride. The former was attired in pale blue crepe de chine, trimmed witli cream lace, and ribbons and posies to match. The latter wore pale pink crepe de chine, trimmed with cream lace, and ribbons to match. They wore silver headdresses, and carried beautiful posies. Mr. Harold Boyles, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. The wedding breakfast was held at the residence of the bride's parents, where the usual toasts were honoured. The happy couple left by the express for Auckland, where the honeymoon was spent. The bride travelled in a pretty coat frock of navy repp, trimmed with grey crepe de chine, and neat little hat to match. The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a solid leather suitcase, and the bridesmaid and flower-girls received strings of pearls. The bride’s present to the bridegroom was a handsome travelling rug. The happy couple were the recipients of many congratulations and numerous presents. Among the guests were Mrs. J. McMillan and Mrs. A. G. Chandler, aunt of the bride, both of whom came from Dannevirke.
SPEARY—HARDY
St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Cambridge. was the scene of a charming wedding last Wednesday morning, the contracting parties being Elsie Muriel Hardy, only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. S. Hardy, of Cambridge, and Hugh N. R. Speary, of Cambridge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Speary, of Newmarket, Auckland. The officiating clergyman was the vicar, Rev. L. Harvie. Mr. Alf Boyce presided at the organ. The bride looked charming as she entered the church on the arm of her brother, Mr. E. L. Hardy. Her frock was of cream knitted silk, with georgette sleeves, and she wore the customary veil and orange blossoms and carried a shower bouquet of camellias, abutilons and maidenhair fern. Miss Speary, as chief bridesmaid, was in powder blue crepe de chine, with accordeon-pleated skirt and tulle headdress to match. Miss Hardy wore a lavender crepe de chine petalled frock. Both had tulle head-dresses to match and carried shower bouquets of pink camellias and maidenhair fern. Mr. F. Goetz, of Auckland, was best man, and Mr. N. Speary, of Auckland, groomsman. As the bridegroom was a returned soldier and had been a bell-ringer for several years, the bell-ringers rang out a merry peal as the happy couple left the church. The bridal couple left by car on their honeymoon, the bride’s travelling costume being of navy repp embroidered in wine, with cream collar and cuffs, and a hat to match. The host and hostess at the reception were Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Hardy. The latter wore a frock of navy blue ninon embroidered in nattier blue and gold, and a blue felt hat to match. Mrs. Speary, mother of the bridegroom, had on a black crepe de chine frock and black satin coat and hat to match.
