MINER’S COMPENSATION

AWARD BY COURT In the Arbitration Court. Hamilton, yesterday, a settlement was arrived at in the case in which a miner named Andrew Grant Sheddon, of Glen Afton, claimed compensation from the Glen Afton Collieries, Ltd, in respect of an accident which occurred in the company's mine at Glen Afton on July 10, 1926. Plaintiff was buried in a fall of coal and stone and sustained a fracture of the right ankle, an injury to the back and loss of three? teeth. Judgment was entered for plaintiff by consent for full compensation at the rate of £3 13s a week from the date of the accident to March 31, 1927, and further compensation at the rate of 25 per cent, of full compensation from March 31, 1927, for the remainder of the period of liability.
