GALE AND SLEET A BOISTEROUS TRIP Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH. To-day. Boisterous weather conditions were encountered by the ferry steamer Wahine on her trip South last night. After passing Pencarrow Head the vessel met the full force of a strong southerly gale. High seas were raging and passengers had a very uncomfortable time. Heavy seas were shipped but no damage was done. Rain, hail and sleet squalls were experienced at intervals. When the vessel berthed m Lyttelton at 9 a.m.. over two hours late, the wind had dropped considerably.
