NURSES’ HOURS
POSITION AT HAMILTON (From Oar Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, To-day. The Hospital Board at to-day’s meeting considered the hours of work for nurses. The medical sLiperintendent, Dr. O. W. Gower, said the question was difficult. The Waikato Board gave its nurses longer holidays than most other places. A schedule of time had been drawn up which seemed to work satisfactorily. At the end of six months the nurses, instead of getting a day a week off, were given, in addition to the annual three weeks, a further week Nurses also received a full 24 hours off at each change of duty and a full eight-hour day was not strictly worked by the nurses at the hospital There was no request from the staff for a change, and the board should leave matters as they are.
