The annual report of the Commissioner of Police states that at the end of last year there were 153,085 motor-vehicles in New South Wales, of which the cars numbered 104,675, lorries 22,986, and cycles 25,424. Since 1920 lorries had increased 800 per cent., and cars 400 per cent. The proportion of motor-vehicles to the population is roughly one to 15J people. The receipts for taxes, registration, and licence fees for the past year amounted to over £1,000,000.—A. and N.Z.
