COLONEL’S STRAIGHT TALK RETURNED MEN CRITICISED Press Association. HASTINGS, To-day. At the annual reunion of ex-service men yesterday evening, the chairman, Colonel Holderness, bluntly told returned soldiers that they were not doing their duty to the Returned Soldiers’ Association, which did so much for them. If they did not take an interest in their own affairs, liow could they expect others to do so, he said. There were 100,000 returned soldiers in New Zealand, and they could get anything they asked for it they did so unitedly, whereas no notice was taken of small, isolated meetings. Anyone who was fortunate in not requiring assistance himself should join up and h<~lp comrades who did.
