TAKAPUNA TRANSPORT
BUSES REPLACE CARS RUNNING TIME SHORTENED Numerous changes have been made with regard to transport at Takapuna since the North Shore Transport Company took over the control of both routes at the beginning of the week. In place of the seven-seater limousine cars that formerly ran from Devonpor; to Milford, a fleet of live buses has be-?n substituted and a shortened time-table is being run. Traffic on the Bayswater route is being handled by 15 k uses, while there is a spare one kept ir reserve. At night those running to Devonport will show three yellow lights, those to Bayswater having only two. Placards on the windscreen will be sufficient for the daytime. Twenty-eight stops have been approved and the erection of signs at these places is proceeding. This is hoped to shorten the time taken on each trip, and to increase road safety. Specia] buses are being run for school - children only, to the four schools of the district. The approach to the Bayswater wharf is at present being drained prior to being metalled and concreted. A turntable will be constructed and footpaths laid dwn. Mr. W. Grant has been appointed tafic manager of the two routes.
