DESERVED HIS WIN

ANE of the three winners of THE SUN’S Football Competition last week was Mr. J. D. McGuire, commercial representative of the Blind Institute. Mr. McGuire himself is sightless, but he has a remarkably good knowledge of football. Discussing the competition with Mr. McGuire, a SUN man remarked that Newton’s win against Ponsonby in the League competition had tripped up many competitors. “It didn’t catch me.” was Mr. McGuire's quick reply. “Ponsonby is no good in the mud.” Mr. McGuire not only had all his results correct, but in the Soccer match between Tramways and Ponsonby, which was abandoned after an hour’s play with no score on either side, he forcasted a draw.
