TAUMARUNUI HOSPITAL
The Taumarunui Hospital Board has confirmed the appointment of Miss Earle, general and midwifery nurse, and Miss Bailey, general and maternity nurse, to the staff of the Avonlea Maternity Hospital, each appointment at a salary of £l2O per annum. Nurse Webb, who is leaving the board’s service, was granted her usual holidays, and the board resolved to give her a testimonial on her long term with the hospital. The board has appointed the following committee, following on the reorganisation for the new year’s work: House Committee, Messrs. N. ,T. B. Dougherty, R. Craig, J. McLeod, R. F. Beautrais and the chairman, Mr. F. H. Sims; Finance Committee, Messrs. Barker, Beautrais, Soler, Pickin and the chairman, the other members of the board to have the right to attend the committee’s meetings and vote if they so desire. Mr. F. H. Sims was elected chairman of the board in place of Mr. L. . S. Foard, who resigned. Mr. Sims has had a long and honourable career in local politics in the King Country, and has held, among other positions, that of chairman of the Ohura Countv Council for many years.
