The chairman reported that the total payments during the past year had been £32,000. A letter from the Taumarunui Borough Council, requesting support * for pressure on the Government with the object of having a liquor referendum taken in the King County, was discussed, and on a motion to support the request a deadlock ensued. Crs. Morris, Hutson and Treacy voted for the proposel, and Crs. Barker, Devereux and the chairman, Mr. T. Cocker, voted against it. The chairman declined to make a casting vote, stating that he preferred to let the position remain as the voting had shown it.
