CARGO LOSSES

PILFERING AND DAMAGE MORE PROTECTION SOUGHT By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 2 p.m. SYDNEY, To-day. A meeting of insurance companies will be held in the city to-morrow to discuss cargo losses arising from pilferage, and hook and sling and other damage, whereby it is alleged that enormous claims are sustained. Insurers say the traditional policy covering perils by sea and fire no longer suffices. Shippers require additional protection. New risks, which are not strictly marine risks, but which first were readily urdertaken by the underwriters, make the position now very different. Insurers are losing heavily thereby.—“ Sun.”
