AT THE NEW HOSTEL
The flag was hoisted at the new hostel of the Y.W.C.A. yesterday. This was the workmen’s signal that the roof was now completed, and that something substantial should be done for them. The organisation being such as it is, the men were grateful for a very nice cup of tea and cakes and sand- ; wiches and hot scones, given to them [ yesterday afternoon. Mrs. C. W. Garrard, president of the association, thanked the men for their work, and assured them that by putting good work into the building they were laying good foundations for their future daughters, who were to grow up in this city. Messrs. Basil Hooper, architect, and G. G. Pollard, builder and contractor, both spoke appreciatively of the fine j work which the men were putting into J this special building for the young j women of New Zealand.
