MAN’S SCATERED FAMILY MAINTENANCE ARREARS The spirit of Christopher Thomas Morris is not broken in spite of nia many obligations. Smilingly he stepped into the doc!at the Police Court this morning to’ answer a charge of being £79 in arrears on a maintenance order. His solicitor applied for an adjournment in order to make some inquiries. Are inquiries necessary?” asked the magistrate, Air. W. R. McKean “Yes.” replied the solicitor, ‘his affairs are involved. He has three obligations apart from his wife and family m Christchurch—four in Auckland, and he will be having an additional one any day now.” Morris smiled when this recital finished. “He certainly has many obligations " remarked the magistrate. “The old woman who lived in a shoe has nothing on him,” replied Morris said lie - was not in regular employment. He went down to the wharves every day, and when there was “nothing doing,” he came back and repaired a few boats. He was remanded so that inquiries might be made.
