The Government of Burma intends to continue its policy of redeeming slaves, but the latter are very apathetic in taking advantage of their freedom. Although the Government paid over £17,000 in furtherance of the scheme of liberation, only 13 per cent of those freed availed themselves of the privilege.—A - and N.Z.
