Wirelsss Telephony. —The question of extending the trans-Atlantic: wireless telephone service to Canada is under consideration by the Governments of Britain and Canada. —British Official "Wireless. A New Road. —ln order to provide for future expansion the Devonport Borough Council is to ask the right to run a road around the whole perimeter of Xgataringa Bay, the branch of Shoal Bay that runs up to the Lake Hoad. Arts Society’s Booklet. —lllustrations of the paintings hung at the exhibition of the Auckland Society of Arts are works of art in themselves. Mr. Gerald Jones took the photographs which appear in the society’s handbook. Less Unemployment in Britain.— The latest records show a further substantial decrease in unemployment. On June 20 the total number of unemployed persons registered was 987,300. This was 41,432 less than in the preTious week.—British Official Wireless. Slower Building in Sydney. —ln the past twelve months 10,322 new buildings have been erected in the Sydney metropolitan area. This is a decrease of 671, compared with the previous jrear.—A. and N.Z. Nursing Home Fire. —Reports and correspondence dealing with the Are in a nursing home in Carlton Gore Road On June 20, when the water pressure was found to be inadequate, were dealt with by the Newmarket Borough Council last evening in committee.
Limited Full.-— The Limited was a bill train when she arrived at Auckland this morning. In addition to a lArge number of passengers she carried “jnnigrantM from the lonic, from Wellington. Many of the newcomers left train at Huntly and Frankton Junction.
Avondale Fires. —The Avondale Fire Brigade received a call to an outbuilding at Hook’s grocery store last night, the damage being very slight. Two wooden crates in the basement of Mr. A. Firth, Joiner, of Great North Road, were also on fire. Little damwas done.
Dobson Mine Report. —An announcement that the report of the commission inquired into the Dobson mine disaster would be laid on the table the House was made by the Minister Mines, the Hon. G. J. Anderson, in the House yesterday. The evidence *ould also be available.
Ntw Sunday School. —The Beresford olreet Congregational Church will *>on have a new brick Sunday school. £ contract has been let to Messrs. Bros., builders, and when completed the cost will be about £ 4,000. r '*e school, which will shortly be opened, will accommodate the 250 chilattending, as well as the Bible
