JUNE WEDDINGS
DRAKE—HAYSON A mist of tulle and the fragrance of a myriad blossoms lent a charming air to a dainty w r e,dding group that assembled at the altar at All Souls’ Church at Devonport yesterday, when Mercia, the eldest daughter o*f Mrs. K. Hayson, became the bride of William Drake, son of Mrs. Drake, of Whangarei. Wearing an exquisite bridal gown of embossed ivory chenille georgette daintily girdled with silver and allowed to pouch in graceful fashion at the low waist line, the bride entered the church with her brother, Mr. Fred Hayson, who gave her away. Her veil of embroidered tulle fell in graceful folds from a coronet of silver leaves, diamante and orange blossom and formed a charming train. At intervals tiny sprigs of orange were used to adorn it. Her shower bouquet of beautiful white flowers with here and there a rosy tint of pink added a charming finish to her toilette. Six maids attended her, each wearing a dainty gown of crepe de chine in delicate pastel tones. Miss Louie Horsley, as chief bridesmaid, wore a pretty frock of rose blush crepe de chine, fashioned on simple lines and effectively trimmed with diamante and silver lace. A quaint little cap of matching tulle was effectively tied in a big bow at one side of her head and lightly trimmed with iridescent sequins. She carried a pretty shower bouquet in pink shades. Miss Edith Bush, another dainty attendant, wore a similar frock expressed in palest mauve crepe de chine with diamante and silver trimming. Her cap and bouquet were in harmonising tones. Miss Joyce Hayson, sister of the bride, wore a dainty frock of opalescent absinthe green crepe de chine trimmed with gold lace godets. She wore a cap of tulle and sequins and carried a little Victorian posy of pale rosebuds. Miss Hilda Davies, cousin of the bride, attended, wearing a dainty rose du Barri frock with head dress of tulle to match and a similar posy of small flowers. Miss Esma Hayson -was dressed in a frock of egg-shell blue crepe de chine with matching accessories. Miss Dorothy Drake, a sister of the bridegroom, wore a pretty frock in shades of peach and lavender and a cap of tulle and carried a dainty posy. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father Furlong and the duties of best man and groomsman were carried out by Mr. Fred Drake, brother of the bridegroom, and Mr. Frank Pilton respectively.
