COUNTRY SALES
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. report holding sales during the week at Waiuku, Papakura and Kaukapakapa, also two clearing sales. At all sales there was a good demand for dairy cows close to profit or backward ones of good quality. Grade Jersey cows at clearing sales held on account of A. K. Watkins, Takanini, and H. E. Richardson, Brookby, met with a keen demand. The firm quotes the following range of prices:— Best dairy cows, heifers, close to profit, £lO to £l6 10s; other ditto, £7 to £9 15s; backward springers, best £8 to £lO 10s, others £5 to £7 10s; aged cows, inferior heifers, £2 10s to £4 15s; bulls, £2 to £7; empty cows, £1 10s to £3; boner cows, £2 15s to £3 17s 6d; yearling heifers, best £2 10s to £3 10s, others 15s to £1 15s; yearling to 18-month steers, £2 5s to £3 10s; 2 to steers, £3 15s to £4 12s 6d; 3 h ditto, £4 15s to £5 12s 6d; 4£ ditto, £5 15s to £6 7s 6d; two steers in forward condition, £6 10s to £7 os.
