Sir Gerard Willshire has been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment in connection with an attack upon a girl in which the victim was tied to a tree and coated with black bootpolish.—A. and N.Z. A message from London on May 11 read: “Miss Jean Olds, aged 22, a pretty assistant at a 'West End hairdresser's shop, told an astounding story when site staggered up to a house in SitLingbourne, m Kent, at five o'clock in the morning The girl was without her clothes, and was coated with boot-polish. She alleged that a titled man had taken her out in a motor-car to have dinner and go to a dance at Maidstone. On reaching a lonely wood he stopped the car and induced her to alight. After a struggle the man stripped off her clothes, tied her to a tree, and coated her body ■vmh black boot-polish. He then drove ofT. It was some hours before she managed to free herself and stagger to the house. There she was given iood and a hath and clothes, and she recovered from the shock. Sir Gerard Arthur Willshire, who Is the third baronet, was born in 1892. He succeeded to the title in 1919. During the war he served with the Honourable Artillery Com pan v. He married in 1923 Miss. Vera Gaimord, of Sydney.”
